Last week’s 30 Rock episode is possibly my all-time favorite. Watching the 1-900-OKFACE commercial — even a week later — still makes me “lizz”.
Family Finds Underground Lair. →
The thing in this article that I don’t get: if you buy a foreclosed home and discover an underground lair in your backyard (with running water, electricity and a ventilation system) — why in the hell would you want to pull it all out????
I’ll kill a man in a fair fight. Or if I think he’s gonna start a...

The Conchords Finale.
Jemaine: Is it a hit?
Murray: It depends how you define "hit."
Bret: Do people like it?
Murray: No, I don't think it was that sort of hit. But you enjoyed yourselves, right? That's what it's really about.

Larry forwarded this to me. Start saving your lunch money, kids. It’s interesting to go through and count which ones I had. (Answer: 54)
Quiz: At-Bat Music.
So, my copy of MLB ‘09: The Show arrived in the mail yesterday (thanks, AmEx Rewards Points!) — and with it, comes the new feature enabling you to pick your own music for when you come up to bat, hit a home run, etc. As your pick is only limited to your ability to get the song in mp3 format, the choices are limitless. You can even cue it up to a specific point.
I’ve been...
Oooof. Now this is exciting. (And, well done with the music selection.)

It just keeps getting better. Really.
IM from the Red Carpet in Dillingham.
Frants: People working on their review scene, wakin' me up...
Kluv: Hahaha -- You're SLEEPING on the Red Carpet? Man, you really *are* regressing.
Frants: Laying down.
Kluv: Understandable. 'Tis a damn fine carpet.
Frants: Got a 3pm class in G16
Kluv: J. Fred? I thought he retired?
Frants: Lee Byron
Kluv: He used to have a mullet.
Frants: I'm supposed to talk to Sophomore BAs
Kluv: An impromptu lecture by Frants? What lucky kids.
Frants: Damn right.
Kluv: Are you going to regale them with tales of the big city, and producing million-dollar spots?
Frants: Don't get a sign like Lars, tho.
Kluv: Well, to be fair, he is a Co-Exec/Director. And you, my friend, are on the dole.
Frants: Meh.
Kluv: I don't even think that word applies in this situation. You just use that word when you can't think of anything else to say.
Frants: Gotta run.
My buddy Brant showed me this the other day. A very well done short film that sorta blows my mind and creeps me out — all at once.
The Temptation of Wegmans.
Just talked to Frants on the phone. Apparently, aside from their awesome beer cooler, Wegmans has expanded the beer selection to include rows and shelves of beer separated by region.
They’re really trying to get us to move back there, aren’t they?
And, if you’re not keeping up with his blog today, you’re missing out. Hal’s for breakfast, chilling on the red...

Aziz Twitters 'The Wire'
I’ve been following comedian Aziz Ansari on tumblr & twitter for some time, so it was with great joy that I discovered him spending a few hours posting twitter replies to a bunch of characters from “The Wire”. (If you haven’t seen the show, you probably won’t get most of them. If you have, enjoy.) My favorites:
“Yo @StringerBell - you finish that...

Jon Stewart: True American Hero.
Jon Stewart channels the anger of “Main Street, USA” and takes Jim Cramer (along with the rest of CNBC) out behind the woodshed. Utterly satisfying to watch. If the hearings in Washington with all those financial execs were more like this, it could beat American Idol in the ratings.
You can watch the uncensored (naughty language) version of Cramer’s interview here.

"Irresistible Gladness: The Happy Songs."
Matty & myself make a return to the mixtape making with a collection of tracks musing on the merits of the “Happy Songs”. Head over to Shuffle This for the listening and reading and goodtimes.

Transcript of the original 1978 story conference between Lucas, Spielberg and Kasdan — where they figure out what they want to do with their “Indiana Smith” movie. Pretty fascinating stuff to see how the ideas are just spitting out, and to see how Kasdan put it all together.

Song (and Video) For the Moment
“Grapevine Fires” by Death Cab for Cutie
This is a track from their recent album, Narrow Stairs. I enjoyed the song (and the album) very much, but it didn’t really “stick” with me (like some others did).
After watching this incredible video by Walter Robot, however, that’s changed.
I’m not likely to forget the song...
Watch Larry's Big Directing Debut!
Be sure to check out Medium tonight on NBC (10pm EST/PST). It’s Big China’s directing debut. Personally, I’ll always remember his directing debut from his short film, “The Corner” (video unavailable, featuring yours truly as a bad-ass mugger).
But, this is probably a bigger deal, what with it being on national televison and all. Congrats, Famous Popu-Lars!

Pedroia vs. Playstation.
I’m absolutely loving this “Pedroia vs. Playstation” campaign for MLB: The Show ‘09. Which also reminds me that I have to pick up the game…

– JERRY SULLIVAN, BUFFALO NEWS
(Jerry comes in with, surprisingly, one of my favorite quotes about TO to the Bills. After the initial shock, I’ve moved from “Oh Dear God” to “Well, why the hell not?”)
The Shuffle.
So, after sprucing up the site here (isn’t she pretty?), I figured it was time to get my other ducks in a row. Specifically, good ol’ ShuffleThis — the home of those few Mixtapes we’ve put together over the years. My initial idea for that site was centered around sharing not only Mixtapes, but Playlists. The layout I had for it, though, made this idea pretty difficult to...
This opening of “The Office” just killed me last night. Carell’s expression has a lot to do with it. Simple, silly, funny. Eyyyyyyyy.
