Bringing Oysters Back to New York's Waters →
Interesting video about the Widow Hole Oyster Farm — located in Greenpoint, LI. The only oysters you can get in Manhattan that are picked fresh — that day. I’ve never been an oyster fan, but this video makes me crave them for some reason…

The Polaroid Lives! →
Interesting article from Newsweek (forwarded to me by Seth) about the continuing life of the Polaroid — even after the company has shut down and ceased production — and why people are drawn to the format.

Brantley: Wow... Why didn't the new FanGraphs iphone app come out at the beginning of the season?
Kevin: No kidding. Looks quite excellent. Too late in the season for a purchase, tho.
Brantley: Yeah, will wait 'til next year. Cool, though. It's like if Nate Silver had an app.
Kevin: Well, he did create Baseball Prospectus.
Brantley: Indeed. That's....uh.... that's my point.
*pause*
Brantley: *cough*
*pause*
Kevin: You see, he created Baseball Prospectus.
Brantley: *shifts feet*
Brantley: Is that my phone ringing?
Kevin: I don't kn--

JC/Hoboken Walkway Open: 24/7! →
After over a year of construction, the walkway between JC and Hoboken finally opened a few weeks ago. Today, they had the ribbon-cutting ceremony, and announced — much to my delight — that it’ll be open 24/7. (The signs originally posted said they’d close at 9pm in summer, 7pm in winter — making the whole thing fairly useless.)
New York, You’ve Changed: Ghostbusters →
One of my favorite blogs, Scouting New York, has gotten very popular over the last few months. (He even got a gig writing for the Huffington Post.) Today, he started a new series of articles — and his choice for the first one cements his place on my reading list.
Archer.
After a thoroughly enjoyable premiere of Always Sunny last night, FX threw in a top secret airing of a pilot for their upcoming animated series, Archer. I loved it, oh-so-much. H. Jon Benjamin is the lead, and if you enjoyed his work on Aqua Teen/Dr. Katz/Home Movies, you’re going to go crazy for him here. Alone, he would be enough to make this show — but throw in...
The Lessons of Lindsay →
A heart-wrenching and beautiful photo essay from Matt Mendelsohn about a young woman named Lindsay Ess — who has managed to endure more than most of us can ever imagine. Powerful story, wonderful pictures.
The Nightman Cometh.
Props to FX for allowing fans to create their own “Always Sunny” promo trailers in anticipation for the newest season (starting tonight). The toughest part? Too much funny to try and fit in only 60 seconds.

FJM.
If any of you out there were (like me) crazy fans of Fire Joe Morgan, the web’s premiere site for stinging criticism of bad sports (mostly baseball) journalism (since retired), you’ll be tickled to know that the FJM boys have gotten back together for a reunion on Deadspin. I didn’t realize how much I missed them so until I read the first post, where Junior rails (yet again)...
Adorable video showing an example of the Marshmallow Test I heard on Radiolab earlier this year.

The Ghost Fleet of the Recession →
Excerpt from Ted Kennedy's Memoir.
“I still chuckle when I recall that even my mother was more involved in the Cuban Missile Crisis than I – although not in a way that Jack especially appreciated. At the height of the standoff, when nuclear warfare remained a live option on both sides, the head of the KGB in Moscow burst through the door of Khrushchev’s office. He carried a letter to the Soviet premier from one Rose...

Left Coast Pals: What’s going on with them fires? How are things?
Playing Ball.
Though MLB does many, many stupid things — I have to say their work on the iPhone app has been outstanding. $10 for clean, live-action gameday-esque updates on every game, every day? Sounds like a winner.
Add-in live radio (both home AND away) for all games? Real-time video highlights? For free? Sure.
Stream at least one live game to your phone, every day — also free of charge? ...
