After a week of sifting and editing, I whittled down the photos and video we took in London down to a more manageable batch.  From the pubs of Islington to the castle in Windsor to the familiar streets of Tooting, they’re all here.  (My phone, unfortunately, is not.)

For my old flatmates of Tooting Broadway (and Frants, our predecessor), there’s plenty to look at.  Ol’ Graveny Road is very much the same as it was 12 years ago (the people who currently live in our flat were slightly freaked out by our photo taking).  Tooting High Street still has old favorites like the off-licence, Tooting Market and Iceland — but other stores (like Mothercare) have moved on.  On Selkirk road, Anton Barber Shop and the weird-smelling pie shop, still around — but the Jamaican barber has morphed into two middle eastern barbershops.  And, last but certainly not least: J.J. Moon’s.  It was very much as we left it (filled with local seniors drinking the afternoon away) —including the well-worn carpet — although it did seem a little rougher around the edges.  Then again, it’s possible my tastes have gotten a little more refined after a decade of drinking.

Either way, I’ve never seen fish and chips like this.  If you’d like to watch a little highlight reel I put together of our trip (including footage of ol’ Tooting), check it out after the break.

Nothing says London like a little Clash, if you ask me.

“Our last big trip before the baby comes was to ye olde Londontown. A fantastic week was spent seeing new sites, hitting up some old favorites, and sipping as many pints (for me) as possible.”
