So, after sprucing up the site here (isn’t she pretty?), I figured it was time to get my other ducks in a row. Specifically, good ol’ ShuffleThis — the home of those few Mixtapes we’ve put together over the years. My initial idea for that site was centered around sharing not only Mixtapes, but Playlists. The layout I had for it, though, made this idea pretty difficult to accomplish. Nobody else could contribute, aside from emailing the list or mix to me (still, Matty & Corey overcame those obsticles, so bully for them) — and then, I had to go and manually edit the site to update it. It was very 1999.
And, tough to do when you don’t have much free time.
So, this week I started re-designing to site around Tumblr, the lovely peeps who have made posting on IthacaMafia so damn fun over the last few months. Adam is working on migrating some hosting, so the proper ShuffleThis.com domain isn’t quite working yet — but it will. In the meantime, you can see my current progress at ShuffleThis.Tumblr.com.
The Deal(ee-oh):
** Mixtapes can now be embedded (thanks to a recent update by playlist.io) and downloaded with ease.
**Thanks to the embed, you can listen in your browser — and read the Liner Notes — all at the same time.
**Anyone else who is interested in mixing things up can now post at ShuffleThis, since I’ve set it up as a group blog.
**My goal is to start incorporating more playlists, with as much (or as little) description on the songs as the post-er wishes. As an example, I put up a recent — and most excellent — Pixies Introductory Mix that Brother Ben put together. I’m hoping there will be more to come just like this from not just myself, but from you as well.
**I currently have two themed Pen-Pal mixes that Matty & I worked on last year, but (lazily) I never got around to mixing them together. I think the combination of: A.) the difficult-to-update layout of the site, and B.) the resounding indifferent reaction to our mixes by anyone not named “Matty” or “Kevin” — led to this lackadaisical attitude. …Now that one of those problems has been solved, things should hopefully improve.
