ANY TIME TWO CHARACTERS ARE TALKING ABOUT A THIRD, THE SCENE IS A CROCK OF SHIT.

ANY TIME ANY CHARACTER IS SAYING TO ANOTHER “AS YOU KNOW” (THAT IS, TELLING ANOTHER CHARACTER WHAT YOU, THE WRITER, NEED THE AUDIENCE TO KNOW) THE SCENE IS A CROCK OF SHIT.

David Mamet, to the writing staff of “The Unit”, 2005. (Full Letter is making the internet rounds today.  He needs to resist the caps lock, but he makes valid points.  The irony, of course, is that I always felt the episodes he wrote for “The Unit” were far and away the weakest.)

Ever since I saw a sneak preview of the Pilot last fall, I’ve been itching for “Archer” to start airing on F/X.  Well, tonight’s the night (and with a double-feature, no less!).  It fits perfectly with the filthy-yet-funny ethos already established by Always Sunny and The League.   Made by the creator of Sea Lab, it has the Adult Swim pedigree we’ve all come to love.  The cast is tops, including Judy Greer and Jessica Walter (Arrested Development) and Chris Parnell (Dr. Leo Spaceman).

Oh, and did I mention that the lead is one of my comedy favorites, H. Jon Benjamin?  He of Home Movies, Aqua Teen, Dr. Katz, and, more recently, Parks and Rec?  No?  Well, it’s true.

As I said, I’ve only seen the first episode, but if that was any indication — I’m going to be lizzing tonight.

According to a recent study on Media:

1. Television
2. Internet
3. Music
4. Books
5. Movies

We’re number one.  Suck it, movies.
