End of The Century - The Story of the Ramones
After a fun discussion about the Ramones with Nellie and Dingess on Friday, I took some time to sit down and enjoy this excellent 2003 documentary on the band.

With all my intra-continental travelling over the past month, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to get out a fresh mix. But, hark — I was reminded of the sexy new Spotify iPad application that I had yet to explore. And so, there I sat in the waiting area of the Toronto City Island Airport, crafting a collection of tuneage to sate the appetites of the masses (which, from what I can tell, is Benny, Eddie, Jeff and Steve). It was quite the enjoyable experience.
In lieu of typing up the playlist track-by-track, I figure I might as well embed it below (feel free to let me know if there are any issues with it).
Enjoy these twenty tunes at your leisure.

Twenty four years ago “Vivid” was released.
I still remember buying the cassette tape after seeing this video — “Open Letter (To A Landlord)” quickly became my next favorite song on the album. A few weekends ago, this song came on in the car and I started “air drumming” along to it. My 18-month-old daughter began laughing uncontrollably at me.
Out of pride, I’m sure.

Well whattaya know? Looks like Spotify and Tumblr have teamed up to form a more perfect union. They now natively embed a little widget where you can post yer playlists and songs — like this one above for the “Mapril” mix I posted yesterday. Click on the toggle button in the top right corner to switch between album cover and playlist modes.

Even though Matty and I provided not one, but two mixes in the month of March, I do feel an obligation to provide an official entry for the ol’ monthly mixmaking series. That said, it’s already the second week of April — and lord only knows how much free time I’ll have in the remaining weeks to give it a proper playlist of it’s own…
The solution? Make ‘em smush. March + April = Mapril.

Alive Inside is an upcoming documentary that follows a social worker’s discovery on how music can “awaken” individuals dealing with degenerative memory loss. Really looking forward to seeing it.
